Living as a Christ-Follower in Times of Crisis
If you are like me, or the other 8 billion people on the planet, 2020 has probably been a trying year for you. Politically, economically, and socially, 2020 has covered it all. Our great nation has seen inner turmoil that it hasn’t faced in decades; everything has seemed to become a political issue. It can be difficult to know how to know where to stand when every issue facing our world and our nation is to divisive. However, if you are a Christian, I have good news for you. Matthew 27:24-28 tells us the story of two men- one who built their house on a sand, and one who’s home was built on a rock
"Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against t at house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock. 26 But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand. 27 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell with a great crash.”
We don’t have to be worried about where to stand- we have an unshakeable foundation; the rock of Christ. Whenever the winds and rain of this world come to beat us down and drown us out, we can be at peace because we are standing on a firm foundation. The bible says that Jesus is the Word made flesh; therefore, our foundation is in the Word of God. Whenever you are concerned or confused on where to stand on an issue, look to the Word of God. Where does God stand on that issue? What are His values? As a Christian, our first priority should be the kingdom of God, and to advance that kingdom, and to desire to see the reality become ‘on earth as it is in heaven'.
